My Work
My name is Dawn K. Ostrom.
I realized one day that I could put words on paper, and that the words were pretty good and people liked them. I put them in poems and stories and speeches.
The words came from whimsy and imagination, and with those words, came a dream that I always wanted to publish a book. And guess what, my dream came true.
And so, I ask you, do you dream? And if you dream, do you dream big?
My writing comes from dreams, from scenes that play in my mind.
A little girl under a tree, saying "I gotta go now, its getting late and momma is calling!" Or a little boy who dreams of dragons, and soldiers and indigenous braves hunting herds of deer, because they need to feed their people.
That is what makes me write. I daydream sometimes too much and I see images in the clouds. I think the scrawny old cat that just came in the yard must have quite a story to tell.
Our imaginations are beyond what we know. And I think they are waiting to burst out, if we give them a chance.
There is no theme, my inspiration is my imagination and what is waiting is absolutely amazing!
My Community
Part of this journey is to continue to write.
And I am.
I am working on the illustrations for my next book called Pip. It is a cousin book to Under the Green Tree, and this time, a little boy with a great big imagination appears. His name is Peter, and he has made a new friend.
